Setup and configuration of a new, secure web server and related services. Securing the Icelandic Audio Library's core services by upgrading and hardening our web infrastructure to maintain the integrity of our data and services
Approach:
Phase 1; Preparations, showed us that it would be better to update our current webserver than to set up a new one. This is what we did:
18 websites/services shut down or moved behind load balancer & web application firewall, with no direct access from the internet.
Access controls tightened and all logging centralized instead of scattered across multiple locations
Lessons learned:
Optimising existing infrastructure can be more efficient and secure than replacing it with new infrastructure.
